Dear TSP students, faculty, staff, and community members,

We invite you to join us on November 14 and 15 for the Pioneering Taiwan Studies Workshop.  This conference will bring together early American academics of Taiwan to discuss their work.  The conference will take place in THO 317 and will be recorded for later viewing.

Program Description

In the postwar period, Taiwan underwent significant political and economic changes that attracted the attention of scholars.  Among these were American academics who conducted ethnographic fieldwork in Taiwan in the 1970s and 80s, produced pioneering research, and mentored generations of scholars that form the field of Taiwan Studies today.  This workshop brings together a generation of scholars of Taiwan to discuss and explore their experiences of living in and researching Taiwan.
