May 22 – Global History Colloquium
Czech Mates? Art Students from the Decolonized World in Czechoslovakia after 1968

This talk examines the Cold War art scene beyond the US-Soviet rivalry, focusing on the cultural diplomacy and mobility between Czechoslovakia and the Global South. It explores the lived experiences and artistic production of Global South students at the Prague Academy of Fine Arts between 1968 and 1989.

June 13 – Annual Global History Workshop “Immobilities”
Date: Friday, 13 June 2025
Venue: Institute for Contemporary History, Seminar Room 1
This year’s workshop focuses on the theme of (im)mobilities – from the movement of people, goods, and ideas, to methodological questions around immobility and disconnection. The workshop is organized in cooperation with the Research Cluster State, Politics, and Governance in Historical Perspective of the Doctoral School of Historical and Cultural Studies.

This conference investigates the global dynamics of displacement, migration, and resettlement during and after WWII. It explores forms of ‘being in transit’ across continents, highlighting local and international networks of refugeedom.
