4) With the understanding that the situation of Ukraine is often analogised to that of Taiwan, we are sending this announcement for members’ information:

We would like to draw your attention to the second season of KCL Films For Ukraine. Designed to deepen understanding of Ukrainian culture and fundraise for Ukrainian charity, this year’s theme “Through the Female Lens” puts the spotlight on the role of women at the front and in the film industry.

https://www.kcl.ac.uk/events/series/kcl-films-for-ukraine-2023-through-the-female-lens

The opening screening on the 7th of March, Invisible Battlion, is a portmanteau film by all female directors focusing on the role of women in the armed forces. In cooperation with LSE’s Solidarity With Ukraine initiative, UCL’s Bartlett School of Architecture, New East Cinema, and the Barbican, we believe we have put together an exciting programme for you that runs throughout March. All screenings are accompanied by Q&As.

Tickets available through Eventbrite donations to the designated charities chosen by the event’s Ukrainian partners. I’m not sure if you’re going to be in London in March. But please do help to spread the word to your friends, students, and colleagues in this part of the world.

5) The Australasian Taiwan Studies Association (ATSA) is pleased to hold the first 2023 ATSA Seminar on 24 April.
